Capping of the Ring wins 2026 AR Future Projects Awards

ORG’s Capping of the Antwerp Ring has won the 2026 Future Projects Awards from the Architectural Review in the Regeneration and Masterplanning category.

Since 2016, ORG has acted as Team Intendant, coordinating the transformation of a six-lane, 17-kilometer highway into a smooth and safe traffic system featuring a network of connected green spaces and new connections to reshape how people move, meet and live across Antwerp. As Europe’s largest infrastructure project, this process brings together governments, experts and citizen groups in a phased approach that unlocks long-standing complexity. Today, the first construction phases are underway, with initial ring parks set to open by 2026.

In our submission in the Regeneration & Masterplanning category, we highlighted these three elements of our work:
- Comprehensive stakeholder management, ranging from broad public participation to intensive co-creation with institutional stakeholders and civic movements.

- Monitoring consistency between vision and implementation across the entire ring.
- Ensuring quality in the design of the numerous subprojects.

We thank the Architectural Review for this meaningful recognition, which acknowledges not only the ambition, scale and relevance of the project but also the method behind it. We would therefore also like to thank all the partners with whom we are collaborating on this collective transformation of the Antwerp region.
The Future Projects Awards is an award that celebrates projects before they are realized. In doing so, the jury considers the potential impact of the project on the future of communities and landscapes around the world. The award ceremony took place on April 21 in Milan.
