Capping the Ring project wins Eurocities award

The Capping of the Ring project was awarded the 2019 Eurocities Award, recognizing its innovative approach to addressing complex urban challenges through collaboration, participation, and strategic planning. 

Developed to support sustainable urban transformation, the Capping of the Ring or Big Link project brings together public authorities, local stakeholders, and experts to create a shared framework for Antwerp's future development. 

The award particularly acknowledged the project's pioneering co-creation process, which enabled diverse stakeholders to collectively shape a shared vision and overcome long-standing planning challenges. It also highlighted it as a leading example of how design-led governance can build consensus, strengthen civic ownership, and deliver transformative urban change.
